How Much Is a 3D Printer? Check the Full Setup Cost

An entry-level 3D printer can cost a few hundred dollars, but the machine price is only the starting point.

Bambu Lab's US listing checked October 25, 2026 shows $219 for the A1 mini and $329 for its Combo. Materials, delivery and any required cleanup equipment change the final bill.

Compare the exact configuration first. A printer-only offer, a multicolor bundle and a resin printer with washing equipment buy different things, even when the headline prices look similar.

Compare the printer with its actual bundle

The A1 mini and A1 mini Combo are documented by the vendor as separate variants. Their product data lists $219 and $329 respectively, in US dollars. These are dated examples, not a universal price range.

The Combo includes AMS lite, the material-handling accessory for multicolor printing. For this listing, the difference is $110, calculated from those two prices.

Decide whether that function is needed before comparing the bundle with another bare printer.

3D printer budget comparison: the checked A1 mini costs 219 US dollars, its Combo costs 329 dollars, and either purchase also needs an allowance for usable materials and applicable delivery or tax

Status: US A1 mini variant prices checked October 25, 2026: $219 printer, $329 Combo. Prices can change. No printer was bought or tested, and checkout totals were not requested.

Select the intended variant and destination before treating a price as final. Check the seller's shipping terms, taxes and included accessories. The figure for a different region or configuration is not the same offer.

Add material for the first usable projects

A sample included with a machine is different from a full supply of material. Bambu's box contents list sample filament; its material table also distinguishes recommended materials from ones the A1 mini is not designed to handle well.

Budget for compatible filament in the quantity and colors needed. An inexpensive spool is not a saving if its printing requirements exceed the selected machine's documented capabilities.

The same rule applies to accessories. Check whether a build plate, nozzle and the intended material-feeding hardware are included before adding duplicates to the order.

For a resin printer, allow for post-processing as well as resin. Prusa's washing instructions describe cleaning uncured resin from a print and using protective gloves.

Cleaning and curing are separate workflow costs to check against the chosen resin system.

Does the setup need another computer?

The printer also needs a way to prepare its print files. Check the chosen slicer's supported operating systems and hardware before assuming that a replacement PC is necessary.

Microsoft documents the Windows device information available through Settings, then System and About. Compare those details with the slicer's requirements.

Use the PC specification checks when the software also needs graphics information. An existing compatible computer can remove a major purchase from the setup budget.

If a replacement really is needed, check the refurbished computer purchase details, including the Windows license. Keep that expense separate from the quoted printer price so the comparison remains useful.

Work out the cost of a print before buying supplies

Prusa's printing price calculator accounts for more than the machine purchase, including material and electricity. A project's size, supports and failed attempts can change how much material is consumed.

Use the slicer's estimate for the actual model and the price of the material being bought. An hourly cost copied from another person's printer cannot establish the cost on a different machine or electricity tariff.

The setup calculation is ours: add the selected printer, usable material, required finishing supplies and the delivered checkout charges. Keep optional upgrades separate. Ask the seller to confirm missing bundle details before ordering.

The Short Version

The checked A1 mini examples are $219 and $329 for the Combo. Compare identical configurations, then add materials and the costs of the intended printing process. A bare machine's price does not establish the cost of a usable setup.
