You tap Wi-Fi on your Pixel and nothing happens. Bluetooth does the same, and your earbuds and car stay silent. On a phone this new that is worrying, but the fault is not in your router or your earbuds.
I checked Google's notes for the September update and three threads on its Pixel forum where owners hit this. Google has now fixed it on the Pixel 10 family, and I cover older Pixels too.
Two switches that will not move
It first spread in January, when a Pixel 10 Pro owner wrote: "Overnight the wifi and Bluetooth refuse to switch on." A Pixel 10 Pro XL owner had "lost all ability to turn on wifi and bluetooth".
Both had tried everything you would try. Resetting network settings, rebooting "many times", and safe mode, which "did not fix issue". Nothing they tried brought the switches back.
It came back with Android 17. A Pixel 8 Pro owner wrote in June that both "just refuse to turn on, even if the Wifi toggle indicates it is on." In September a Pixel 10 Pro owner joined in.
Status: checked on 28 September 2026. Google fixed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that will not turn on in the September 2026 update, only for the Pixel 10 family. On older Pixels, a reset helps a while.
1. On a Pixel 10, install the September update
Google's September 2026 update notes list it as: "Fix for an issue that prevented users from enabling Wi-Fi or Bluetooth under certain conditions".
That fix is marked for five phones only: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel 10a. The update sits in Settings, under System, in Software updates.
With Wi-Fi down, your Pixel has to fetch the update over your cellular plan, so check your allowance first. In January one owner's fixing update "was 3.3gb", so this is not a small download.
Then restart your phone, because Google says a Pixel update only takes effect after the next restart.
2. January was fixed the same way
The January wave ended with an update, not a setting, as confirmed by owners in the thread. The Pixel 10 Pro owner came back on 28 January: "Problem solved via system update that became available today".
They added that "Both wifi and Bluetooth function properly again directly after applying the update." Another owner wrote a week later: "I received a 3GB Feb 5 update and my wifi/bluetooth are back".
One owner in the Pixel 10 Pro XL thread took their phone in for repair on Google's advice. The shop "couldn't identify a fault", but updated the phone, and that fixed it. So your hardware is very likely fine.
3. While you wait, reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
This is the reset a volunteer on the forum suggests, documented by Google on its Wi-Fi help page. Open Settings, tap System, then Reset options, then Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi.
Google's last step: "At the bottom, tap Reset settings." Have your Wi-Fi password to hand, and restart your phone once it finishes.
Be ready for it to wear off. The Pixel 8 Pro owner could only get their phone working this way, and "within 24hrs they stop working again". It is a stopgap until the fix reaches your model.
4. On a Pixel 6 to Pixel 9, send a bug report
Google's September fix names only the Pixel 10 family. If your older Pixel does this, you are still waiting, and your report helps the engineers.
A forum volunteer gave the quickest route: "Search for bug in Settings. Tap Bug report in the search results. Tap Full report." Then describe when the switches stopped.
Before you factory reset your Pixel
I would hold off on a full reset, because it did not help the owners who tried it. The Pixel 10 Pro owner in September wrote that they had tried "even a full phone reset with no help".
If you still want to reset, back up first. The Android backup page lists what Google saves and what it does not.
And if your Wi-Fi does turn on but will not connect, that is a different fault. The Android Wi-Fi page has two tests that tell your phone and your router apart.
