Can You Use Medal on a Mac? Recording Is Unsupported

Medal no longer supports its Mac recording app. The Medal website still opens on a Mac for limited viewing and profile access, but it cannot record or edit gameplay. An old installer does not restore supported Mac capture.

For a new recording, choose a supported Mac recording method. For an existing Medal clip, check whether it was published before expecting to find it on the website.

Separate the website from the discontinued recorder

Medal identifies this restriction in its platform support list. macOS is an unsupported recording platform, including Apple laptops and desktops.

The browser version can show the general feed and published clips. Medal says unlisted, cloud-synced and expiring clips are unavailable there. A clip missing from the website has not necessarily been deleted.

Medal on Mac choices: the website provides limited viewing, the old Mac recorder is unsupported, and a new screen recording needs a supported Mac tool

Status: Medal's current platform page and discontinued Mac-app notice checked October 30, 2026. Website access does not provide Mac recording. No recorder was installed or tested.

If the recording originated on a Windows PC, check its Medal library there before deleting local files or reinstalling anything. Keep an independent copy of a recording that matters.

Do not treat an App Store listing as Mac support

Medal warns that an app may be downloadable through a Mac's App Store without working as intended. It recommends avoiding that installation because it cannot support problems on the unsupported platform.

The old Mac permissions article now opens with a discontinuation notice. Medal cannot guarantee an existing installation's operation or troubleshoot it further.

The old permission steps remain underneath that notice. They describe the retired recorder; they are not a promise that adjusting privacy permissions will make it supported again.

Our recommendation is to preserve existing video files before removing that app. Do not make the only copy of a clip depend on whether an unsupported recorder starts tomorrow.

Use a supported Mac capture route for new video

Apple documents its built-in Screenshot recorder in the Mac screen-recording instructions. Press Shift+Command+5, choose a video-recording control and review Options before starting.

For the complete capture and save procedure, use the Mac recording guide. This records from the moment capture starts; it does not recover gameplay that happened before recording began.

Apple says Include System Audio is available in macOS 27 or later. Microphone selection and computer sound are different choices. Check the installed macOS version before expecting the same audio controls.

Make a brief recording and play the saved file to check its picture and sound. That verification is ours; no recording was made for this article. Finish this check before relying on a tool for an important session.

If a capture app leaves the Mac busy after closing its recording, check which app is keeping replayd active.

For missing Medal account content, contact Medal with the clip's original platform and publication state. For a failure in Apple's recorder, give Apple the macOS version and describe what is missing from the saved file.

The Short Version

Medal's website offers limited access on Mac, while its Mac recorder is discontinued. Preserve old clips, avoid treating a mobile-app listing as supported Mac capture, and verify a supported recorder before the next session.
